Our Story
Uptown Vans was started by two friends in New York seeking to bring greater visibility to the smaller, independent bus and van companies that filled the gaps in corridors underserved by traditional intercity carriers. With that goal in mind, Uptown Vans was created by integrating these smaller companies into a ticketing platform traditionally used by larger, more established intercity bus companies, customized to fit the unique operating model of the smaller companies, and allowing their services to reach a larger audience.
We invite you to enjoy the efficient, economical, and comfortable van services that operate to various destinations in the Northeast. Whether you’re looking for a day trip, a long-term commuting solution, or visiting friends and relatives, our partner operators have got you covered!
Meet The Team
George Kaufer
Known as “GPS George” among friends, George has always had a passion for helping people get from point A to point B safely, efficiently, and economically. Both during his day job as a civil servant in the transportation sector and in his personal life, George takes every opportunity to improve the transportation network for those around him.
A regular rider of these van services, George realized the potential of these routes to become something more than a niche transportation service. With service to major regional hubs, these services provide opportunities for people to get to get to work, school, visit family, or experience recreational activities outside of their local area. As such, George set out to spread the word about these services and the many important destinations that are accessible with the click of a button and a ride on a van.
